June 12, 2013

It has been a long time, thought I would update what has been happening in our lives.

Cameryn- Turned 2 on March 16, 2013 and is an amazing daughter!  She is smart, funny, daring, caring, nurturing, and ready to learn all the time (she is flying through all the developmental milestones!)  She moved her self to a toddler bed in February, she no longer wanted in her crib...  Cami gets to stay at home with me, I am still doing in home day care, she loves playing with all her friends.  However, when the weekends come I think she is even more excited for 'stay home' days, when Dad gets to stay home too.  She is just such a joy to have in our lives, we are truly blessed!

Sarah-  I just recently downsized my day care and am loving the less stress and shorter hours!  This change comes just before another major change in our family.  I am expecting another baby around July 20!  We are having another boy!  We are so excited to get back to having a family of four and tremendously missing what should have been a family of five.  Baby and I are healthy, we did not have any testing done, as our chance of having another Menkes boy is very low.  I am looking forward to meeting this little boy and holding him in my arms!  Big sister Cami is too!

Jeff-  Is still working with Olathe School District.  And is looking forward to all the summer weather to play golf in.  Jeff has also had many projects recently!  He set up, cleaned up and fixed a, new to us, swing set!  Great fun in our backyard.  Our basement recently got flooded by rain waters and he has been helping with cleaning out, insurance and figuring out what part of the rebuild he can do.  What a mess that has been!  He also has been helping with tremendous amounts of house work!  (Yes, I am letting out his secret.)  He helps with cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, dishes, etc... What a burden he has been lifting off me!

2012 Holidays-  The holidays were very difficult to get through, a lot of bitter sweet moments!  Family, friends and just being together helped.  We also had an unexpected visitor bring smiles to our faces.  The following thank you letter that I wrote to them explains a lot.... (link and letter below)

Thank you to everyone who has been continuing to pray and support us!  We truly believe that Carson is in Heaven and is a perfect healthy little boy, but that doesn't make the void in our arms and hearts any smaller.  Please continue your prayers and support...

Hugs, Kisses and Blessings from us -

Jeff, Sarah, Cameryn, Baby C and Angel Carson.

Dear Friends,
I would like to share my story to you and let you know what a GREAT service Santa America provides.

My son, Carson, was born on August 11, 2007 and was diagnosed with Menkes disease in Early January 2008.  We became a hospice family right away.  In December of 2009 we had our first visit from the Hospice Santa, what an amazing event.  We were so excited that we were able to share this experience with a son we could not take out of the house.  This became a tradition and for three years Santa came to visit our house and our family!  Santa (and the team behind him) made us feel so special and helped us enjoy the season for what it is and not dwell on the fact that it could have been our last Christmas with our son.  We have such wonderful memories and pictures that we would have never other wise had.

Carson passed away on February 10, 2012.  When Christmas came around in 2012, it was a season I was beginning to not want to celebrate.  I then heard from a support group of mine that Santa could still visit us.  With not much hope I emailed our hospice coordinator and asked if Santa could visit us again.  He came, and with his visit he brought a renewed belief of the season and much more reason to look at what we have been blessed with.  I can not say in enough words how Santa’s visit in 2012 helped us make it through the Christmas season.  With him he also brought a book, Angels in the Sky, it is now my 22 month old daughters favorite book.  Santa also gave us reason to look forward to next years visit from him.  After all Christmas is about tradition and Santa’s visit became tradition for us, we can’t stop that just because our son is now in Heaven.  Santa did more than he knows in our house hold than he knows!  We look forward to many more years of this tradition.

If there is anything else I can provide to help assure that the Santa America program continues to bring its services to my family and many more, please let me know!

Sincerely -

Sarah, Jeff, Cameryn and Angel Carson
